Psychological Evaluations

A psychological evaluation is usually administered as a way to assess an individual’s current functioning, as well as behavioral patterns, personality traits, cognitive abilities, and several other areas. This service is sometimes sought by clients as part of litigation for child custody cases, or out of concerns regarding learning or developmental delays. Other reasons to seek psychological evaluations can include seeking admission into a gifted and talented program, difficulties sustaining attention in school or at work, relationship difficulties, assessing psychological functioning as a result of traumatic experiences, such as relocation as a political refugee, being a victim of domestic violence, or of childhood abuse/neglect.
