Individual Psychotherapy

Individual psychotherapy is a process occurring through one-on-one sessions between a trained therapist and a client. This process maintains confidentiality, empathy, and professionalism as core ethical standards in the field of psychotherapy. There are several theories and modalities of psychotherapy (e.g., cognitive behavioral, psychoanalytic/psychodynamic, family systems, existential, etc.). Research studies have shown that while the therapeutic approach is an important factor to consider when choosing a therapist, it is often the relationship between a client and the therapist that leads to long-term significant changes in the client’s functioning.
